Steps to Reproduce

  1. Today I posted a skoot and tried to mention someone. (I'm using the bsky website on my computer.) What I saw in the editor was not what I ultimately got though. ☹️ I'd mentioned Martin and in the editor it'd looked like he was successfully mentioned. eg:

But after I posted, Martin's mention disappeared:

Here's a link to the skoot:

I think what happens is if the bsky editor detects any non-whitespace character before an @, that will cause the mention facet to break? (eg. I noticed that again in this other skoot too.). Like, I guess that's fine. But I really feel if the user is shown something in the WYSIWYG editor, then it should be what the user gets? @pfrazee actually wrote a blog post about facets and how it's important to not violate user intentions and I feel like my intention was violated here. My 2c is that the WYSIWYG should be consistent with the final output.

PS. You guys are doing a great job, btw!! I love bksy and use it every day!! It seriously brings me so much knowledge & joy every day; keep up the great work!! 🥳 🎉
