Steps to Reproduce

  1. Go to profile page (my page is @stonemilled.bsky.socal)
  2. Click 12 followers
  3. Note that there are not 12 followers. This weirdly varies how many it shows (on some renders it shows spam bots, on others it doesn't)

This is possibly because you blocked a bot/spam follower and for whatever Reason Bluesky is not capable of removing blocked accounts from your follower list like literally every single other Social Media Platform

yes, I went through the whole thread that Sininini posted above -- seems like Bluesky auto-blocks spam bots, but does not remove them from the follower list. It's an interesting problem that decentralization presents, I guess.

I think I'd aim to try to get the follower count to mirror the follower list. I think that should be doable. The larger problems of the block/softblock functionalities though, I haven't a clue.

still doesn't explain why the number at the top doesn't simply reflect the count of "listed" items
