Checklist

  • I have updated to the latest available Home Assistant version.
  • I have cleared the cache of my browser.
  • I have tried a different browser to see if it is related to my browser.
  • I have tried reproducing the issue in safe mode to rule out problems with unsupported custom resources.

Describe the issue you are experiencing

On 2023-07-21 the label "Event" for the automation trigger type was changed to "Manual event" – parallel with the "Fire event" action that was also changed to "Manual event".

While replacing "Fire Event" with "Manual event" might make sense for the action, it does not fit for the trigger.

It shows up both in the picker

and as the summary default (before the user has made any input):

Describe the behavior you expected

The string is found here and should be changed back to "Event" for the picker:

"event": {
"label": "Manual event",

For the summary string this should be changed to

 When an event is fired

So it matches the summary as soon as the event type is specified:

Steps to reproduce the issue

  1. Create a new automation.
  2. Add trigger
  3. Select "Manual event".

What version of Home Assistant Core has the issue?

2025.1.1

Additional information

Note that German translators changed this back to just "Ereignis" ("Event") over a year ago as they did not like the rewording. This covered up the problem in the German UI.

I found this while going through the older comments on Lokalise which caused me to file this bug to bring English and German back in sync.
