So that you can right click a Rom and then select "Create A Application Menu Shortcut" and the same thing for desktop shortcuts.

How could this be an application feature since it is an OS feature that already exists..?

Create a shortcut from the exe and add -L cores\[core].dll [content_path] to the target.

Not user friendly, a button to create desktop shortcut to launch rom in retroarch will be much better.

It could be achieved when this PR is merged, at least it will try to autodetect the core needed to be launched with.

I'm not talking about core detection, I'm talking about creating desktop shortcuts from the app. For example, in the Android platform, you can make a shortcut of an website from a browser. By default, that shortcut is saved in the android launcher's home screen. Later, when you touch that shortcut, it immediately opens the browser and takes you to that website. I was talking about this type of features as it is related to the topic of this issue.
I was hoping that, after a ROM is used within the app, there will be an option to create a shortcut in the desktop or the android launcher's home screen. The core that was used with the ROM before creating the shortcut will always be used when that ROM is opened using that shortcut.

As workaround, you can use this application for Linux and Windows to generate shortcuts.
