ACL to talk to siblings

Hi,

I'd like to set up the ability to talk to siblings. The wiki starts down this path, but then digresses. I'm sure it's easy to set up, but I can't quite figure it out from the information provided. Linking is too permissive.

Let's say I have the following channel hierarchy set up:

It's easy enough for the crew members in the various ships to set up a push to talk key that includes their crewmates and the captain (or commander). It's also easy to set up a push to talk key that lets the captain or commander talk to the crew. What I'd like is for another push to talk key so that the Federation captains can talk to each other and the Romulan commanders can talk to each other. Linking lets the captains and commanders hear each other across political entities (not desired).

I know this can be done with specific whisper lists. I'd like for some kind of ACL configuration to be added that the captain or commander can easily use to set up a push to talk key to "talk to siblings" - captains to each other under the Federation channel and commanders to each other under the Romulans channel. I would be fine if the setup included the Federation channel for captains and/or the setup included the Romulans channel for commanders.

This is actually a simplified example. I'm likely to have additional political entities with their own fleets and if the fleets get large enough, battle group leads for different groups of ships, but that's for another discussion. I can probably leverage what I learn about sibling talking to make that work.

Without having put in too much thought into this, I think it should be possible for you to create a group for the federation captains amd the romulan commanders respectively. Then folks can add a PTT key that whispers to that group. Does that do the trick for you? 🤔

That works. However, that requires knowledge of the captains and commanders ahead of time or it takes time to set that up at the start while the crews wait while those lists get set up. I was hoping for something more along the lines of an ACL that you can configure a PTT key to talk to siblings. This could be done ahead of time and allows the commanding officer to step down in favor of a different commanding officer (just by moving to the commanding officer channel) in the middle of a session (real life interferes) with less loss of immersion in the middle of a game.

I am not an ACL expert myself, but in the wiki there is https://wiki.mumble.info/wiki/ACL_and_Groups/English#Channel_Group_-_Speak_to_children_but_not_siblings. Did you try to invert the ACLs given there yet? That should then yield what you want 🤔
