Proposal: Simple Skywoman website

Based on discussions at the previous #pod_mustella call, I thought I'd put together a quick proposal for how we could have a barebones site for coordinating Skywoman activities via a static site generator (eg, Vuepress, Next.js, Gatsby, etc). This isn't in place of the idea of assigning moderators to each channel in Discord, but could work hand-in-hand with that, if moderators can also be tasked w/ passing on updates for the site to the Mustella group, or making edits themselves if they're comfortable with that.

And none of this needs to be set in stone, not now or ever. We just keep it simple to start and let it evolve as needed or let it die if it's not useful.

UPDATE: I have scaffolded a bare-bones site using Vitepress in the skywoman.coop repository.

Provisional Site Map

Depending on what the final content looks like, these could be individual pages or just sections of a landing page, with a grid of cards for the pods/regions.

• About: statement on who and what Skywoman is, how to join, links to Patreon, Discord, etc
• Pods: a profile for each, including:
  • a 2-3 sentence statement on their pod's purpose
  • list of any ongoing projects
  • if there are regular meetings, when/where/link
  • link to discord channel and any relevant documents, etc
• Regional Chapters: profiles similar to the pods, but instead of purpose and projects, maybe the general interests and makeup of the group, eg:
  • how many farmers? non-farmers?
  • does everyone have at least one chicken?
  • more Springfield folks or Shelbyville folks?
  • etc...
• Events: an aggregated view of all upcoming and recurring Skywoman/pod/regional events, perhaps as an embedded Google Calendar or similar

We could also have a page for miscellany, like stuff that's not quite a pod but a major focus area, like shared-services, or pods who aren't quite ready to put themselves "out there".

Tasks

In rough order:

• Approval during 4/5 General Meeting
• Mustella scaffolds a quick static site, maybe the following weekend.
• Mustella pings all pods and regions in Discord, to share this plan and what's needed
• Each pod and region delegates people to draft their profile
• Delegates find time to review their content with Mustella pod to add it to GitHub repo for the site
• Mustella creates a preview site, on Netlify or Vercel or what have you, to get feedback from everyone
• Final review and call for comments of the site at the May general meeting
• Site goes live! We can put it at its own domain, or subdomain of sylvanaqua.com, or wherever we like

I want to add that a Code of Conduct should be a high priority for this website and the community in general, as we move quickly on projects like this. There are a bunch of ready-made CoC's we can draw on, or copy-n-paste wholesale.

Contributor Covenant is the first thing that came to mind when you mentioned it. I think it's as good a start as any. I've also skimmed Python and Ubuntu , which could be nice complements. I don't have any opinions to offer right now though.
