I have different glitches happening (nixos-unstable, KDE Plasma 6.2.4, Nvidia 565.57.01 - 565.77) :

  • Closed window still showing up like they were opened
  • Firefox window glitching, even showing up blinking on a different screen, once maximized

Main or v1.3.2? X11 or Wayland? Does it happen with the built-in blur effect?

I'm on main, running Wayland, using Desktop Effects > Better Blur from the KDE settings.

I tried switching from baked background to full realtime and it did not change anything.

Built-in blur effect doesn´t work at all for me, I never figured out why.

Probably because applications have to explicitly request blur. Konsole does, so you could try that.

Does the issue go away when Firefox is not force-blurred?

Try setting the noise strength and corner radius to 0. If that doesn't work, then I'm pretty sure that this a KWin/driver bug. I don't see how this effect could cause a window to show up on another screen, especially on Wayland where each screen has its own texture.

I switched to the 565.57.01 driver and didn't experience this.

Edit: I found a bug report about maximizing windows causing artifacts on another screen, maybe it's the same bug you're experiencing: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=496595

I think it might have something to do with KDE translucency effect and memory issues ?

When deactivated, I had no longer duplicate app surfaces, and I see this firefox bug on fullscreen lately mostly while running a game and browsing firefox. Sometimes I only see the blur effect and no app surface.

Either way it might not come from the blur effect.
