✍️ Meeting Summary

• The meeting kicked off with a presentation showing the existing work done in the working group and the materials developed in the past in the working repo

• Reviewed the topics developed in the existing OSPO 101 course and the LF Training OSPO course

• Reviewed the different personas and desired target audience

  • Explored the idea of adding a new type of person to consider: the stakeholders or executive sponsors who oversee the program's budget. However, after discussion, the participants (we) decided against this option. We felt that these individuals typically don't take courses, based on their past experiences with them in their own organizations.

• Agreed to focus on two personas, each potentially requiring a different approach: OSPO managers who influence the process, and open-source contributors within an organization. Regardless, the course content should effectively cover the OSPO approach, challenges, and motivations

• Defined the two (2) Milestones for this WG

  • MILESTONE 1: Build an OSPO Career Path and publish in the TODO's OSPO Career Path repo AND LF Training and Certification platform

    • Clarified the concept of the "OSPO Career Path": A structured series of courses designed for (1) OSPO managers and (2) employee open source contributors who collaborate with OSPO members. These courses will be categorized as beginner, intermediate, or advanced, and will draw from the existing offerings in LF Training and Certification
    • According to the LF training design team, is very likely we couldn't change the courses that already exist due to logistic efforts, but the working group can add new chapters/sections to existing courses to be customized to our target personas.

  • MILESTONE 2: Transform the Outbound OSS Guide into a training course that matches the format used for LF training and certification courses

    • LF training design team shared this PDF as a reference for the format used: Open Source Management & Strategy.pdf

    • The LF training design team starts by using Google Docs to review content. Afterward, they move the content to their internal course directory and collaborate with the working group (WG) on the design.

      • Some participants wondered if there's another tool besides Google Docs for reviewing (as some can't log in with a Google account at their workplace).
        • ACTION ITEM: investigate if people can add comments or edit the text without needing to log in (anonymously).
        • ACTION ITEM: The LF Design team will explore the possibility of using a Word document as an alternative for those who can't use Google Docs.

• Ana will send meeting notes summary via WG channels
• Ana will document the defined milestones in the working repo
• Ana will convert discussed topics into issues in the working repo for the community to work there
• Ana will send a notification explaining the new structure for upcoming meeting agendas. The plan is to allocate the first 20 minutes to focus on the career path milestone, followed by the next 20 minutes dedicated to working on the outbound OSS course content and design.
• Ana will convert the markdown files from the outbound oss guide into a single g.doc
• WG participants will work on the google doc document for the outbound oss guide
