The sidebar needs handles. Like Google Maps has:

Comes in handy when no toolbar is present, or even if it is.
Also easier than hitting F9, or poking in the menus.

The handles would go here,

Well, only one handle would be visible, depending on state. My image is goofy. Just do like Google. I'm sure there is no patent.
