Glossary
Cel - Short for "celluloid". A single image that represents one visible part of an object.
Cherry KiSS - Traditionally KiSS cels only had 16 to 256 colors. Cherry KiSS adds the capacity for 24-bit color.
Doll - Some sites will use the word "set" instead of "doll" because you can use KiSS to make all sorts of things, like artworks or games, which are not what anybody would think of as dolls. However, the word "set" also means an individual set of items within a doll. So Smooch just calls anything that you view in a KiSS viewer a KiSS doll.
FKiSS or French KiSS - An embedded scripting language that adds special effects like animation, sound, and other interactivity. There are several levels: FKiSS, FKiSS2, FKiSS3, FKiSS4, and two different FKiSS5s.
Kisekae - Japanese word for "dress-up", as in "dress-up doll".
KiSS - An abbreviation for "Kisekae Set System".
Object - One or more cels that are positioned together.
Palette - A set of 16 or 256 colors that is used by cels in the doll. Dolls can use multiple palettes.
Set - One of up to ten collections of items within a doll. This allows the doll to group themed outfits or showcase different looks. You can even use sets to tell a narrative or show the passage of time.
Snap-to - An FKiSS2 effect that makes clothing items "snap" onto the doll, instead of the user having to manually position each item.
